Cathy Henderson | Superintendent
I appreciate your interest in Pacheco Union School District. We are located in the semi-rural region of Shasta County between the cities of Redding and Anderson. We have two schools, Prairie, a K-3 school that serves about 320 students, and Pacheco has approximately 360 students in grades 4-8. We work closely with parents and have the most active parent club in Shasta County. Our Parent Club (PPPTG) Pacheco Prairie Parent Teacher Group offers students a wide realm of opportunities; from field trips to our all-district Winter Workshop, Parent Club provides students with valid and fun learning opportunities. In addition to Parent Club, we also offer an Education Foundation (AAAF) Academics Arts Athletics Foundation. This foundation offers several fund-raising opportunities throughout the year, and the fundraising goes to after-school clubs such as (POPS) Performers of Pacheco School, academic endeavors, and athletics.
We have a reputation for academic excellence provided with a gracious touch. We believe in our mission, "Preparing students to be confident and empowered leaders for tomorrow's world. We are fortunate to have an excellent, dedicated, caring, and capable staff. Prairie offers strong, balanced reading and math programs to have all students at grade level or above in math and reading. Pacheco builds on this knowledge base and provides students with the opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge while applying problem-solving and critical-thinking techniques to various challenging subjects. Basic skills and state standards are stressed throughout all grades, along with various engaging teaching strategies and technology that will lead your child into today's global economy.
Most Pacheco students attend Anderson High School, but through a somewhat unique open enrollment agreement, all of our students also have the opportunity to attend other area high schools. We work closely with Anderson High School District and the three other feeder elementary districts (Cascade, Happy Valley, and Cottonwood). If you choose Pacheco School District for your child's education, you will see a common theme among all of our staff: we want all students to succeed because we know that "Every Student Matters, and Every Moment Counts," and we collaborate and develop professionally to make such happen.
We invite you to come to take a tour of our beautiful campuses and see our excellent learning environments. We offer excellent technology opportunities for all students. We offer an after-school program at Prairie School and a variety of after-school activities. We excel in music, art, and foreign language offerings. In addition, we have an excellent GATE program for students in grades 4-8, and most of these students become involved in the National Junior Honor Society.
I appreciate your interest. I hope you choose the Pacheco School District for your child's education. We look forward to "Graciously Serving All Students and Families."
