Superintendent's Message

Welcome to the Pacheco Union School District family! Nestled in the beautiful, semi-rural countryside of Shasta County right between Redding and Anderson, our district is a close-knit community where every student matters, and every moment counts.

We are proud to be home to two wonderful campuses:

• Prairie School (K–3): Home to about 320 young learners, Prairie focuses on building strong, balanced foundations in reading and math so every child feels confident and supported from day one.
• Pacheco School (Grades 4–8): With around 360 students, Pacheco builds on those foundations, encouraging kids to dive deeper, think critically, and tackle exciting new subjects.

A Community That Cares

We are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated, caring, and talented team of teachers and staff who treat every student like family. We truly are Two schools - One community. We also have an amazing parent club —our Pacheco Prairie Parent Teacher Group (PPPTG)! Thanks to our wonderful parent volunteers, our students enjoy unforgettable experiences, from fun field trips to our festive district-wide Winter Workshop.

Exciting Opportunities Inside & Outside the Classroom

We believe learning should be engaging, well-rounded, and fun! Beyond state standards and cutting-edge classroom technology, we offer:

• Enrichment & Arts: Band and choir at Pacheco, creative art integrated across all grades, and implementing Art at Prairie .
• After-School Programs: The popular Project Share program at  Prairie and Pacheco, along with a great variety of after-school sports and activities.
• Flexible High School Options: While most of our graduates head to Anderson High School, our open enrollment agreement gives families the flexibility to choose from other area high schools as well.
